Project Update
Construction is active across segments 1 through 12 of the VIA Rapid Green Line corridor, with coordination efforts in place to help minimize conflicts and service interruptions. Expect intermittent lane and sidewalk closures, as well as detours along the corridor. Some work will occur during nighttime hours to minimize traffic disruptions and ensure safety. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution in and around construction zones.
The projected construction dates below are estimates and may be impacted by inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances that could cause project delays. Future construction updates will include timeline adjustments, should they occur.
– Segments 6 and 10: Southbound lane closures have been removed.
– Segment 11: Southbound lane closures have been adjusted to accommodate targeted work. Turn access closures at Langton Drive and Thames Drive are now scheduled for 9/18 through 12/10.
– Segment 9: Work at Mandalay Drive is scheduled for 9/21 through 10/ 9. La Manda Boulevard has been added to the schedule for 10/1 through 12/1.
– Segment 8: Upcoming turn access closures have been added at Ridgewood Court and McIlvaine.
– Segment 5: The Euclid Avenue turn access closure has been extended through 10/2. The Marshall Street turn access closure is scheduled for 9/18 through 12/1.

About the VIA Rapid Green Line
Planned to open in Spring 2028, the VIA Rapid Green Line project will provide fast, reliable service. The new bus line will run north and south along San Pedro Avenue, from the San Antonio International Airport to downtown, and on to Brooks Transit Center. It will connect riders to key residential areas, job centers, schools and cultural landmarks. Corridor Segments to Streamline the Project
The corridor has been divided into segments. Construction may happen in several segments at the same time, with work coordinated to help minimize traffic impacts between nearby areas.
During construction, select VIA bus routes will experience temporary detours and bus stop changes.Â

Individuals and businesses along the San Pedro corridor can expect construction impacts between 2025 and 2027. The project involves new bus stations and improved infrastructure in key areas of the project corridor along San Pedro Avenue, between U.S. Highway 281 and Isom Road to Roosevelt Avenue and Steves Avenue.
Along the Green Line corridor, existing stations will be replaced with either new side-running or center-running stations. This project also includes the addition of new sidewalks, ramps, curbs, gutters, and drainage systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will construction last?
The type of construction work and duration planned along the corridor will vary depending on the amount of infrastructure improvements planned along specific segments or intersections. However, our goal is to complete the work as efficiently as possible, and we will continue to share updates as they become available with the community. The Federal Transit Administration’s Revenue Service date for this project is April 2028.
Why will construction take so long?
In some locations, the work involves complex tasks such as moving utilities, upgrading infrastructure, and ensuring everything meets safety and quality standards. Our team is working hard to complete the project efficiently while minimizing disruption as much as possible.
When is construction happening in my neighborhood?
We will provide 90-day general construction updates and 30-day construction activity forecasts with specific planned work. The monthly and quarterly updates will be posted on the VIA Rapid Construction Web Page.
Are utilities being replaced or relocated?
Some of the existing utilities will be moved and/or replaced to accommodate improvements, improving future access, reducing service disruption and supporting long-term infrastructure reliability.
