Enhancing Connectivity With Service On Demand

VIA Link is an innovative, on-demand service that uses vans to connect riders in designated VIA Link zones to other stops within the same zone, including transit centers and traditional bus stops.

Linking Riders Faster, Easier

When booked on demand with the VIA Link app (Apple Store or Google Play), rides are typically available within 10–20 minutes. VIA Link helps riders by making transit available when they need it, replacing traditional bus service in places where bus frequency was limited, in some cases, to one to two hours.

Meeting Riders Closer to Where They Are

VIA Link pickup and dropoff locations are determined for each zone, based on transit demand, transfer locations, and rider safety. VIA Link reduces walking distances for riders, improving connectivity to schools, businesses, and residential areas (what is known as first- and last-mile solutions). VIA Link stops include existing bus stops, as well as virtual stops within the VIA Link zone, providing more flexibility.

You can see where VIA Link stops are located within each zone by downloading the VIA Link app or viewing zone maps online.

Expanding VIA Link to Move People Faster and Farther

The Keep SA Moving plan expands VIA Link service to more zones, with goals to:

Increase access to more people across an expanding region

Improve coverage in neighborhoods and suburban cities

Continue growing the network so more people have access within a half mile

VIA Link Zones

VIA Link launched in 2019 with one zone and is now serving a growing number of zones around San Antonio, including:

  • Naco Pass
  • Mainland
  • Madla
  • Randolph
  • Downtown

VIA Link also serves Northeast Lakeview College on weekdays for riders in the Naco Pass and Randolph zones.

The Little Runner, powered by VIA Link Downtown, connects UTSA’s downtown buildings with other popular Downtown destinations, the Pearl, and Southtown.

How to Ride VIA Link

Customers can book rides using the VIA Link smartphone app or by calling (210) 655-LINK.

Rides can be booked when they’re needed or up to one week in advance. Riders can visit unlimited stops within a zone or transfer outside the zone for up to 2.5 hours on a single fare.
