About the VIA Rapid Green Line
Planned to open in 2027–2028, the VIA Rapid Green Line project will provide fast, reliable service connecting the airport area with the Mission Concepcion area traveling along Isom Road, San Pedro Avenue, St. Mary’s Street, and Roosevelt Avenue. Additionally, Green Line vehicles will provide service to the San Antonio Airport and farther south to the Brooks Transit Center.
See how construction will have an impact on the corridor.

Construction Timeline
Summer 2025
Fall 2025
SUMMER 2025 – Construction process will begin with utility adjustments, including moving utility poles and fire hydrants to support the construction process.
FALL 2025 – Construction, including sidewalk and station foundation work, will begin along the corridor in key areas.
Corridor Segments to Streamline the Project
To complete the work quickly, the corridor has been divided into segments. Construction may happen in several segments at the same time, but it will follow a sequence to reduce traffic congestion between nearby areas.
Segment 1 – Steves Ave. to Roosevelt Ave.
- Underground and Overhead Utility Relocations Around New Stations and Intersections
- Temporary sidewalk and concrete/asphalt roadway patching where needed
- Potential sidewalk and curb/driveway reconstruction
Information about segments 2 through 11 are anticipated in the fall of 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the VIA Rapid Green Line?
The VIA Rapid Green Line is a new bus line that will run north and south along San Pedro Avenue, from the San Antonio International Airport to downtown, and on to Brooks Transit Center. It will connect riders to key residential areas, job centers, schools and cultural landmarks.
How long will construction last?
The type of construction work and duration planned along the corridor will vary depending on the amount of infrastructure improvements planned along specific segments or intersections. However, our goal is to complete the work as efficiently as possible, and we will continue to share updates as they become available with the community. The Federal Transit Administration’s Revenue Service date for this project is April 2028.
Why will construction take so long?
In some locations, the work involves complex tasks such as moving utilities, upgrading infrastructure, and ensuring everything meets safety and quality standards. Our team is working hard to complete the project efficiently while minimizing disruption as much as possible.
When is construction happening in my neighborhood?
We don’t have an exact start date yet, but we will provide a 90-day and 30-day notice to impacted property owners before construction begins. We are committed to keeping you informed and will share any updates as soon as the schedule is finalized. More information will also be available this website.
Are utilities being replaced or relocated?
Some of the existing utilities will be moved and/or replaced to accommodate improvements, improving future access, reducing service disruption and supporting long-term infrastructure reliability.
